In response to the acute food shortages in the Karamoja region, our organization initially provided direct food aid to starving households in May 2022, spending approximately USD 270,000 on food procurement and distribution. Quickly recognizing the limitations of this approach, we shifted towards more sustainable, agricultural-based solutions. We embarked on a transformative journey by investing in local agriculture, starting with a pilot project of farming 250 acres in the Nakapiripirit district. This strategic pivot not only aims to provide immediate relief but also fosters long-term food security and economic empowerment for the community. Our efforts have expanded, with increasing acreage and innovative farming techniques, setting a strong foundation for lasting impact in the region.
